The Rise and Fall of the Great Lakes by Bill Mason, National Film Board of Canada

Rise and Fall of the Great Lakes Lesson Plan by Andrew Murgatroyd

We’ve spent months scouring the internet for the most up to date and scientifically accurate information about the great lakes and great lakes water issues. Through our thorough research we’ve come to find this especially poignant film by the national film board of Canada entitled “The Rise and Fall of the Great Lakes”

In this film the brave protagonist travels through time to see the changes that have taken place in the Great Lakes over the last 15,000 years, from the formation of the massive mile-thick Laurentide Glacier that covered much of Canada to created the Great Lakes, to the struggles of “modern” times when industrial pollution and international shipping are changing the Great Lakes forever.
